First of all, it is important to say that the SJD is the biggest event of Switzerland. Every year you can see the best dancers of the country because they never miss it.
The “Art O Danse” association organises for 3 years this competition and it was one more time a big success.
This year the Swiss Juste Debout was on the Sunday 8 of February 2009 in Geneva and more than 1400 people came from everywhere and it was a record.
This event was located in the sport center of “Bois des frères” at 15 minutes of the train station. This room contains 600 sitting places and this one was the perfect place for this kind of event.
The atmosphere had been very good during the all day and the feed back about the organisation from the Paris team was good.
The competition started early in the afternoon with preselections, where Mr. Serval did the introduction. He was our MC with Mr Jiggy Jones from the radio “couleur 3”, number 1 hip hop radio, in the french part of switzerland.
Unfortunately this time, there were not enough people in locking and house dance, so the preselections were cancelled for both and they began directly with the quarter of final.
On the other hand, in hip-hop and popping, the exhibitions were very interesting.
In this edition, many young dancers participated and the level was higher than last year, especially in popping.
All the poppers were ready to win and it was very difficult for the judges to take a decision.
As every year, Yassine, Philboog, Sally and Slowboog were selected in popping, but after a beautiful final, Sally and Richard won.
Between each battle all the dancers exchanged and danced together. They did some cercle everywhere and everybody took some pleasure.
In hip hop, many good dancers from Paris came as participants and the battles were better than last year. But the biggest surprise was when Nala & Ibra, young dancers, made their performances. All people were impressed by their feeling and the level. At the end, the final was between Boubou & Cecef and Mamson & Joyson and the advantage was for Mamson and Joyson and they won with some perfect routines.
For house dance, there were interesting battles but they were only 4 groups and as the previous year, Bembika and Pastora won.
In locking, all the groups were from France. The final was Pouss’one & Morgan against Radoudix & Zulu, and judges decided to choose Pouss’one and Morgan.
The competition finished at 20:00 p.m. and it was a great day for everybody.
Since last year, the popularity of the Swiss Juste Debout rose and many people who didn’t dance came to see the event because they like the atmosphere and watching some battles or to support their friends who participate too.
The after party was at the “MAD” club and it was really fun. All the dancers and judges were present and the music and the atmosphere were really good.
Because of all those elements: The increasing number of the participants, the quality of the dancers and the organisation make that it is the biggest hip-hop dance event of Swiss.
